HAPPY MEAL
By Tabby Lamb
Drama Queen festival #2 of Hameshulash Theater
a staged reading
In the cheerful early days of the internet at the start of the millennium, two lost teenagers, Alex and Bette, meet by chance online. This encounter births an intimate, yet screen-mediated relationship within the only space that allows them to feel truly at home.
"Happy Meal" is a funny, moving, and nostalgic story about transition. It follows its protagonists on their journeys from teenagers to adults—from MySpace to TikTok, and from "Cis" to "Trans."
Tabby Lamb's play, winner of the First Prize at the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, marks the first time an Israeli stage has presented a story of love and friendship between two protagonists on the trans spectrum.
